Paul and I will not be able to be there for the service Thursday. I remember Aunty Bette and Uncle Don mostly from the years that we lived in Ottawa on Kingston Avenue. Many Friday evenings they would come over for a visit, we would have chocolate cake and coffee. Many discussions were had in that living room. I remember Aunty Bette being a "career woman" long before that term was even used. She did take me to the House of Commons one Saturday to see her office, I got to use an actual typewriter for the first time. I was probably 11. We had lunch in the cafeteria, and she did point out some actual politicians.

Paul and I did visit Aunty Bette and Uncle Don a few times at Calabogie, with our two daughters, Nancy and Kelly. They always made us very welcome whenever we were there.

It has been a few years since we visited with Aunty Bette in Renfrew, being in Nova Scotia it is not easy to visit often. We did try to keep in touch a little bit.

This lady has left a big whole in the world. Betty was such a kind and caring person. We have known her for years and always enjoyed the walk down memory lane with her as she knew my parents (Alf and Olive Dodge) very well and we shared many happy times together. We are sure she will be smiling down on us as she always did. She will be missed.
