Anne "Jane" Wallace of Renfrew passed away peacefully at home on January 13, 2021.
Jane was predeceased by her parents Ronald and Anne Wallace (Taylor) and by her husband Gilbert Sykes.
Loving mother to Laurie Gold-Ditchfield (Graham), David Gold (Linda) and Dan Gold (Kim), beloved step-Mom to Tim Sykes (Xiaolin), much loved Grandma to Tia (Chris), Megan (Steve), Bethany, Shawn (Alyssa) and Kirsten (Jake). Grandma Jane loved her beautiful great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Cassidy, Harley, Micah, Lilah, Caleb, Haylen, Emery and Luka. Jane is also survived by her dear sister Joyce (Malcom Pierce) as well as her much loved nieces and nephews.
Many close friends, cousins and in laws will also miss her dearly as well as her dear friend Ron Freeman.
Jane was born in Renfrew in 1938 attended the Burnstown school then R.C.I.
She married Ronald Gold in 1956 and resided in Iroquois Falls where she raised her family and worked as a Medical Records Secretary. After 20 years she returned to Renfrew, worked at the Bonnechere Manor, married Gib, and enjoyed many years at their home on Centennial Lake .
For many years Jane volunteered for the Victim Witness program. She was a member of the Renfrew Presbyterian Church and spent many hours there with her hands in the dishwater helping out in the kitchen.
Mere words cannot express what a special, classy woman Jane was. She enjoyed life, was purposeful and related to everyone she was with. She listened and not just heard, was wise and supportive yet not a know-it-all. Continually wanted to learn and loved to have a plan. She soaked in nature, loved the sun, the flowers and the birds, looking out over the water, pretty dishes, nice clothes and walking. Her appreciation of words and nature's beauty occupied many of her thoughts. "last night we had snow, tattered pieces of white lace rode the winter winds"
Jane was dignified, private, discrete, big on manners (as the grandkids knew well) but what will be remembered most was her complete unconditional love she had for her family. She made the effort and was present for every graduation, birthday, Christmas concert, music festival and event that her little chickadees were involved in. She supported, encouraged and continually gave to everyone who was blessed enough to be a part of her life.
Jane lived by the motto "Live gratefully and gracefully this unrepeatable day"
She will be missed but always with us. Till we meet again.

Jane's final care has been entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Renfrew. Following Jane's wishes, cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life will be held in the summer. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Ronald McDonald House or The Ottawa Mission in memory of Jane. Tributes, condolences and donations can be made online at

I grew up in Iroquois Falls and was best friends with Laurie. Mrs. Gold as we addressed Jane was always a beautiful, kind, patient lady. I had many a sleepover and meal at the Golds and will never forget what a wonderful mother and person she was. My mom Dorothy Pratt was a good friend of Jane's. My mother passed away the same day as Jane so perhaps they will meet in Heaven. My condolences to Laurie, David and Danny.

My sincerest condolences to Jane's family, relatives , and friends. I met Jane through my late cousin Evelyn Wallace, who happened to be a cousin to Jane also and I just picture in my mind and soul the great meeting and welcoming that awaits Jane in heaven. Two first cousins with so many similarities and their passing not that far apart. Jane, your memory will be a treasure to those that had the privilege to know you. Fly high with the rest of our angels.

With Love to Jane's Family and Friends
My heart is so sad for all who knew Jane. She left her mark in everyone's heart and memory. I worked with Jane at the Manor and used to replace her when she was on holidays which was impossible but made for a good laugh with the nurses. I would have every dictionary I could find open to try to do the dictation. Medical Secretary was not my expertise. Jane was so efficient at her job but more important was a beautiful person. Years later we would meet and vow to have a visit; and a lesson was learnt that you should never put off what is truly important; now we will never have the opportunity. Please know how special Jane was and will live in our memories always. Jane's love will be with you always and forever.
Our Sincere Sympathy Donna and Barry Proulx
