Dear John - I remember your Mom's sense of humour the most! From reading the messages here, it is obvious she was a well loved, respected and caring woman. I hope you keep your good memories close in your heart. Sending love, Shirley (Ferguson) Hill

I remember your mom fondly, weaving in and around my mom and us kids through the years - shared projects, coffee and conversations...My thoughts are with you at this time. Barb (Aikenhead) Jorgenson

John - my deepest sympathy on the loss of your Mom. She and Mom were such good friends. I remember her well. Mom especially enjoyed their coffee visits at Tims after Mom was in the Manor. Judy (Wilkins) Ryan

So very sorry to learn of Betty's passing. My parents, Lois and Dick Rich, but especially my Mom, were friends of the Steeles. I have a vague memory of running around the furniture store with my siblings while the adults chatted and the Steeles would visit us when they came to Ottawa. In later years I remember Mom telling me how good they were to the staff and customers at the furniture store, and of Mom and Betty having long conversations on the telephone. I'm just one of the many on the periphery who were impacted by your Mom and Dad's example of living life with grace, kindness, and integrity. That is how I will remember them.

Leslie, thank you for your kind note. Mom always looked forward to visits with Lois and Dick, particularly her old nursing friend Lois. Grace, kindness and integrity sums it up. Best wishes - John

John I just heard of Betty's passing. I am so sorry for loss. Those Civic Girls enjoyed an amazing friendship. I remember a few years back when I took your Mom and my Mom, (Janette) on a road trip to Almonte. We had a great day! I think that was the last time they were all together.

Susan, it's nice to hear from you. Mom thought the world of Janette, and their friendship spanned the decades. Something we could all aspire to ! All the best - John
