Obituary for Donna Jo Wickens
Donna J. (Desmond) Wickens, age 71, of Killaloe, passed away November 12, 2021. Before moving to Killaloe almost 20 years ago, she had lived most of her life in the Syracuse, New York area.
Passionate about creating, baking, and reading, Donna lived her dream making art in her house in the woods. She was a talented artist in just about any medium and especially enjoyed fiber art, painting, and making jewelry. She collected many things including vintage items, books, and beads. She was especially fond of her extensive collection of odd art supplies which included anything from rust and keys to buttons and pottery shards.
Donna encouraged everyone she met to experiment with some type of art and to go beyond the ordinary and expected. Her joy and enthusiasm will be missed by all who knew her.
Donna was predeceased by her father, Richard Desmond, her nephew, Cory Card, and her beloved dog, Chickie. She is survived by her husband, Bill Wickens of Killaloe, her mother, Lois Desmond, of North Syracuse, New York, her daughter Christina Martinez of Syracuse, as well as her two grandchildren, Antonio and Cecilia Martinez. She also leaves to mourn her sister Karen (Ed) Card and her brother Chuck (Kim) Desmond, as well as her nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be missed by her dearest friend, DeDe Foster of Liverpool, New York, as well as many other friends in the United States and Canada.
Professional services have been entrusted to the care of Zohr Family Funeral Home, Killaloe cremation has taken place and at the request of the family there are no services scheduled at this time.
