Obituary for Doris Edna Eileen Brash (Scheer)

BRASH, Doris Edna Eileen (nee Scheer)

She was in her 91st year and passed away peacefully at Pembroke Regional Hospital with family by her side on January 15th, 2022. Fondly remembered by her beloved husband Willard Donald Brash, 65 years married. Doris was a caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Doris was born and raised in Eganville. She was predeceased by her parents Edna (nee Jahn) and Herman Scheer. She and Willard attended the same schools together since kindergarten and were baptized, confirmed and married at Grace Lutheran Church. The family moved often during Willard’s career progression and Doris made several close friends wherever they went. They lived in various cities including Montreal, Toronto, and Saskatoon; however, their home was always Golden Lake. They spent 30 years, happily retired, at the lake and enjoyed vacationing during the winter in Mexico and Bahamas. The lake was always a place where family and friends were welcomed with open arms and they hosted many large and wonderful gatherings over the years. Friends and family were very dear to Doris. She loved sending and receiving cards and never missed anyone’s birthday. She was a very caring and thoughtful person and will be dearly missed.

Thanks to the wonderful staff and friends at Supples Landing Retirement Home in Pembroke for the company and care over the last 3 years.

Doris adored being in the company of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her husband Willard Brash will miss her dearly. Loving sister to Franklyn Scheer (Marilyn), predeceased by Kenneth Scheer (Jean), Jean Vaillancourt (Victor), and Glenn Scheer. Loving mother to Steve Brash (Jann), Doug Brash (Sheryl), and Nancy Zimmerman (Todd). Caring grandmother of Kyle Zimmerman (Lynsay), Ryan Zimmerman (Beth), Scott Zimmerman (Michelle), Melissa Cooper (Scott), Amy Egberts (Adam), Evan Zimmerman (Jaime), Derek Brash (Mabel), and Matthew Brash (Vanessa). Caring great-grandmother to Jeremy, Katie, Axel, Zachary, Bailey, Patrick, Sophie, Wesley, Weston, Blake, Amelia, and Ava. She will also be fondly remembered by her Aunt Louise Biederman, sister-in law, Eileen Trousdale (late Donn), and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
