Obituary for George Albert Wilcox

On September 11, 2022 George Albert Wilcox peacefully passed away with his family by his side at the age of 82.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Sheila of 31 years. His loving children Jeff Wilcox (Joan Marie), Tammy Kraushaar (Dan) and April Levasseur (Daniel).
He will be missed by his step children Beth Norland (Jay), Sandra Godfrey (Mike Corbett), Heather Godfrey and Jimmy Godfrey (Marla).
Grandfather of Kelsey DiSesa (Verdi), Emily Wilcox (Cody), Macauley Wilcox (Abby), Alyssa Hayes (Simon), Brittany Kraushaar (Zach), Caitlyn Friesen (Alex), Alexandra Levasseur (Matt), Zacharie Levasseur (Kathleen), Mathieu Levasseur (Mackenzie), Blair Godfrey, Kara Godfrey, Jake Godfrey, Chanel Godfrey and Savana Godfrey.

George was predeceased by his loving wife Elizabeth (Green) of 28 years, his parents John and Theresa (Stephaniak) and his sister Margaret Lett. Brother & sister-in laws Ron Gravelle, Keitha & Willis Freitag, Bev Hebb, Jim Sterling and nephew David Lett. He is survived by his sister Doreen Gravelle (Rod Billet) and brother Garwood Wilcox (Betty), as well as brother & sister-in-laws Tom & Delores Green, David & Leith Sterling and Mary Sterling and Wade Hebb.

George will be remembered with love by many nieces and nephews as well as many close friends.

George was born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. He grew up in Eganville, Ontario and had many entrepreneurial adventures including barbering and onto owning a dry cleaning business. He was known as one of Renfrew County’s most successful businessmen. His business started in Eganville as George’s Service Centre. It was expanded by his son Jeff to include new locations in Ottawa and Kingston Ontario.

He was devoted to his church & community. He had many passions, including car restoration, boating & fishing, home renos, landscaping, card games and the love of golf.
He loved a good laugh and will be missed by many good friends.

The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation for the care provided by Dr. Malinowski, Delana and the wonderful hospice team at Madawaska Valley Hospice, Barry's Bay.

Visitations will take place at Zohr Family Funeral Home, Eganville on Thursday September 15, from 2-4 & 6-8pm as well as on Friday, morning from 9:30-10:30am. Funeral Service will take place at 11am in St. John’s Anglican Church, Eganville. Internment at St. John’s Anglican Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the Eganville Legion Branch 353.
