Obituary for Grace Evelyn Foran (McGrath)

Grace (McGrath) Foran
August 28, 1923 - November 28, 2022

It is with great sadness we say goodbye to a most wonderful and beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Grace Eveyln (McGrath) Foran passed away peacefully at Caressant Care in Cobden surrounded by family members on Monday, November 28, 2022, to join her late husband Leonard Foran (1967).

Grace is survived by her seven children: Anne (Michael) Kelly, Dan (Rachael Prince), Jim (Margy Rider), Francis (Beth Miller), Joan (Des) Pigeon, Michael (Donna Merkley), Tim (Sue Phinney). She treasured her children and was proud to watch them grow and often wished that Leonard had been able to share in their accomplishments with her. She will also be dearly missed by her 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Grace was the youngest daughter of John and Anna Mary (Power) McGrath. She was predeceased by her sister, Sister Anna Grace, her brothers and their spouses Gerard (Elizabeth), Ambrose (Erie), Mike (Ethel), Colin (Pearl), Morgan (Jean). She was also predeceased by her in-laws Joe (Sheila), Frances (Leonard Mullin), Jim (Rita), Ambrose (survived by his wife Theresa), and Pat (Ramona). She is survived by her beloved sisters-in-law, Sister Mary Foran, Rita (Les) Bree and Theresa Foran. Grace is lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbours who cherished her loving ways. She treasured each visit, card, email, or phone call from them.

Grace lived almost her entire life in the Eganville area (McGrath Settlement and Donegal). She attended #7 Grattan School, Eganville Continuation School and Ottawa Normal School. After the death of her husband, she returned to her career as a teacher at St. James Catholic School, Eganville. Grace was a life member of the St. James Parish Catholic Women's League and an active volunteer in the community.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at Caressant Care Cobden and Fairfields Assisted Living Centre, Eganville, for their dedicated care and support of our mom.

Our Mother was huge of heart, faith filled and happiest when surrounded by family and friends, sharing stories and recalling relatives and past times. She fostered within all of us the importance of maintaining contact with family and friends. We loved her with all our hearts and will miss her very much.

Visitation will be held at the Zohr Family Funeral Home, Eganville, on Friday, December 2, 2022, from 2-5pm and 7-9pm, and on Saturday from 11:30am to 12:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial at St. James the Less Catholic Church at 1:00 pm.
(For those who are unable to attend in person the Funeral Mass will be streamed live through the Facebook page St. James Parish, Eganville.)
Interment to follow in parish cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, donations to Fairfields Assisted Living Centre (Eganville Area Long Term Corporation) or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Tributes, condolences and donations may be made online at www.zohrfuneralhome.com
