With heavy hearts his family announces the passing of John Van Hoof, carpenter by trade. Loving husband of 57 years to Rosemarie (Fleming). Loving father to Paula (Mike) of Edmonton, David of Petawawa. Grandfather to Megan (Andrew) of Edmonton, Shana (Kai) of Portland, Oregon, Johnny (Jazmine) of Edmonton, Ty & Quinn of Ottawa. Great Grandfather to Charlotte & Lucy of Edmonton.
Predeceased by his parents George & Francisca Van Hoof.
Brothers & Sisters: Piet (Nellie), Ted (Chris), Maria (Bill), Nellie (John), Paula, Gerarda (Bruce), Francis (Cisca), Joseph (Irena), Martin (Mona), Johanna (Lyn), Andre (Nancy), Gerry, Fred (Carla), Juliette (Ken).

After a short battle with Cancer John left us on March 10, 2022. Fifty seven years ago with Rose & Paula in tow John began his working life in Toronto, moved to Richmond Hill and along came David. A year spent in Cape Breton, a year in limbo, we finally came back to Petawawa. In 50 + years along with his family John successfully started a contracting business, worked in the North West Territories for DCC, built 5 houses for his family, including the final one for retirement. Along the way he helped with the starting of the Petawawa Civic Centre, played hockey, played ball, golfed and most importantly fished & cruised the Ottawa River.
John built his last house in 2014 and we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. John was still building rafters in his garage in 2020 and enjoyed “his” View of the Ottawa River, his love of country music, being the #1 fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, helping organize & attending the Van Hoof Reunion, which was very important to him. John was so proud of his grandchildren & just loved his Charlotte & Lucy.

He will be missed by his wife Rose, Paula, David, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters, brothers & countless nieces & nephews, his favorite sister-in-law Rita & husband Bob.

Professional arrangements have been entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Eganville. Cremation has taken place and the family will hold a celebration of John's life at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Marianhill Hospice (Marianhill Foundation) in memory of John. Tributes, condolences and donations can be made online at www.zohrfuneralhome.com
