Obituary for Garry Kohoko

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of this Great Algonquin Warrior in his home, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 73.
Garry was the rock of our family and the beloved husband of Carole and the greatest Dad to Margaret Ann, Sherry Lee (Morris), John Paul (Lisa) and Jake. His children were his pride and joy.
Garry treasured all of his Grandchildren/Great: Joshua, Mitchel, Hayley, Ethan, Silas, Kruz; and Memphis, Meadow and Scarlett. They gave him his strength and will to live
Garry, also known as Pinky, is predeceased by his Mother Mary Cooco and Father John Kohoko and sister Elizabeth Brinda. He is survived by his Brothers Archie (Donna) and Lawrence (Connie) and many nieces and nephews.
Although Garry was a paraplegic (44 years), he never allowed his paralysis to discourage him from living his life to the fullest. He was a kind, and loving person who will always be remembered for his tremendous strength, wild spirit, and his crazy sense of humour. He served as a member of Chief and Council for several terms. He and his wife Carole were active foster parents for 10 years. Garry was a dedicated fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and Captain of the Guzzlers Ball Team. Some would argue these two teams were at the same caliber of fine athleticisms.
Garry was a kidney transplant recipient from his son John Paul which granted him 4 more years of love and memories in which Garry and Carole recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Until we meet again, may the Great Spirit make sunrise in your heart. And may your moccasins make tracks in many snows yet to come.

Garry's Final care has been entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Eganville. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Those desiring donations may donate to The Kidney Foundation of Canada in memory of Garry. Tributes, condolences and donations can be made online at www.zohrfuneralhome.com
