Obituary for Judith Leslie Yasu Hay Gracie (Suzuki)

Judith Leslie Yasu Hay Suzuki Gracie, born March 23rd 1936 in Toronto, ON, passed away on December 3rd 2021. Predeceased by her beloved husband John Gracie (1996) and dear son Richard (1979), Judy leaves behind her cherished son Andrew (Felicity) grandchildren Esther, Hazel and Ruth and sister Phoebe Suzuki. Judy will be greatly missed by friends and family in Canada, England and Ireland.

Judy was a Graduate of Bathurst Collegiate Institute in Toronto, ON and went on to study for a BA from McGill University in English and History. Judy emigrated to England to study Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Birmingham University for a BSC.

Judy worked as an Electrical Engineer for Cadbury’s at Bourneville for her working life. She was a trade union representative and active within local politics in Birmingham. After retiring from Cadbury’s Judy re-enrolled to study for a BMedSci at Birmingham University med school at the age of 62.

Judy returned to Canada in 2007 and made Dacre, ON her home. She was active within the local community with a passion and talent for woodcarving, painting and a member of the Curling Club.

Professional arrangements have been entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Renfrew. At Judith's request cremation has taken place, there will be a private memorial gathering and inurnment, followed by a celebration of her life at the DACA Centre, which will open at 3:00 pm on Saturday December 11, 2021.
