Obituary for Judith Ann Shires (Nass)

SHIRES, Judith Ann (Nass)
August 4, 1950 - January 24, 2023

SHIRES, Judith "Judy" Ann passed away peacefully in hospital with her loving husband by her side on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, in her 73rd year. Beloved wife of Clarence for 51 years. Judy is predeceased by her baby son Clinton Paul and her parents Mel and Evelyn (Laginskie/Lonzynski) Nass. Judy is survived by her sister Sharon. She will be dearly missed by all of her nieces and nephews.

Judy had a special connection with her nephew, Michael Shires: the mother of his children (Lorraine Biernaskie) was her foster daughter. Judy is a special great aunt to Clayton (Lisa Zatorski) and Curtis (Melissa Allen). She will be dearly missed by her special great, great nephews Clarence, Henry, Patrick, Hudson, Karlsson and Benson.

Judy and Clarence were soul mates and enjoyed traveling together. She was a fine lady, beautiful person and very giving. She loved connecting with family and friends. Judy was active in her Church and volunteered regularly throughout the community. Judy was known for her special touch in decorating the Church and hall for special events.

Judy was a caring teacher with the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board for 32 years. She started her career at St Andrew's Catholic School in Killaloe where she worked from September 1970 to June 1988. She then joined Holy Name Catholic School in Pembroke and went on to become Principal at St Casimir's Catholic School in Round Lake Centre and then St Mary's School in Wilno. Judy retired from St Andrew's Catholic School in Killaloe in June 2002. Judy loved her students, and they loved her: she contributed to the educational success of hundreds of students before retiring in 2002.

Judy will be missed by her dear walking partner, Carol. Together they chatted their way along Round Lake streets for over 20 years.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and volunteers at Madawaska Valley Hospice Palliative Care.

Judy's final care has been entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Killaloe where visitation will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023 from 2:00 - 4:00pm and 7:00 - 9:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church, Round Lake Centre on Saturday morning at 11:00am. Spring interment in the parish cemetery.
