Lorraine passed away at home on March 25, 2021 while battling cancer and diabetes in her 75th year. She was the dearly beloved wife of Reginald Selle in their 54th year of marriage. She was the loved and cherished mother of Trevor (Heidi Mitchell) of Deep River, and Kyle of North Bay, and was the devoted grandmother of Finley and Jasper.
Lorraine was an only child born to Emerson and Edna Seigel of Golden Lake on January 25, 1946. She started her teaching career in Elliot Lake, got married to Reginald on August 5, 1966 at the age of 20, and moved to Sudbury for a few years before they settled and built their own home near Whitefish. Lorraine spent the bulk of her 33-year career in the kindergarten classroom at Robert H. Murray Public School in Whitefish where she touched hundreds of lives with her kindness and firm but fair demeanor.
Lorraine spent every summer at the family cottage on Golden Lake, where she enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and laughing with friends and family. She canvassed for donations to the Canadian Cancer Society every year for 27 years, raising thousands to help fund research to find treatments for a disease that ultimately claimed her own life.
Due to covid restrictions, Lorraine will be cremated and a funeral service and celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Zohr Family Funeral Home, Eganville. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Lorraine. Dear Reg and Family;
There are many fond memories of our year together in Elliot Lake when Lorraine and I taught at Roman Avenue Public School.
One shocking moment was when Lorraine drove her Ford around the Collins Centre and met another car, when the Sun blinded her.
She was so upset , damaging her brand new car. However repairs made all new again. The car was her lifeline to you Reg and her parents in Golden Lake. I send my deepest sympathy to you and your beloved family. May Lorraine rest in peace in the arms of our Lord. God bless you all with peace that passes all understanding. Sincere Condolences; Betty St.Onge

So sorry for your loss, Lorraine had a laugh that was infectious as is her smile. I have know her since I was a little girl and would see her and Reggie in town at the restaurant in Golden Lake or just out and about. Thinking of you all at this sad time. Cindy (Marquardt) Duval

Deer Reggie & family, Please accept my deepest sympathy for Lorraine's passing. Growing up together in Golden Lake brings back such cherished memories. We attended the same 2 room school with grades 1-4 in 1 room & 5-8 in the other.
Weekend nights would find us walking to the local restaurant for a coke. Of course, we would meet on
Sun am at Sunday school. I remember when Lorraine & Reggie met & how happy you made each other. May all the treasured memories sustain you in your grief.

There are so many it’s hard to pick one! Every year for over 30 years I would, with my family stay at the cottage beside Lorraine and Reg’s. I usually stayed a few weeks, Lorraine and Reg loved their card (Euchre) and so did we. We would play for hours and we would usually beat the boys😏. Sometimes Lorraine and I would go play bingo but either way we always enjoyed our time with these two wonderful people! I miss you so much Lorraine and of course condolences to your Family. XOXO
