After a long and full life, Nona Thom passed away peacefully on February 17, 2023 at the age of 100, joining her husband, Ralph and daughter, Brenda (Ken). Nona is survived by her children Elayne (late Bill) and Gail (Robert). She was the loving grandmother of six granddaughters; Fiona, Melissa (Adam), Nicole (Michael), Julie (Mark), Brooke (Brent) and Casey (Carmon). Nona was blessed with nine great grandchildren Mady, Abigail, Maciee, Megan, Sully, Halle, Jude, Blaire, and Axel.
Nona was born during the iconic Haileybury fire on October 7, 1922. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Orpha Smith and her sister Lois Nadeau.
Nona was an active member of the Renfrew Lutheran Church, and she was also a member of the Renfrew. Lionettes. She was many things to many people and left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Nona lived a fulfilling life and wouldn’t want her family and friends to mourn her passing, but to celebrate her life. Professional arrangements have been entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Renfrew and in keeping with Nona’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a private family service at a later date.
