Obituary for Rowena Gertrude Beryl Bouchard (Wilson)

Rowena Gertrude Beryl (Wilson) Bouchard
November 02, 1927 - February 25, 2021

Rowena Gertrude Beryl Bouchard (nee Wilson) was born November 02, 1927 in Island Brook, Quebec to Walter and Ruth (Williams) Wilson. Rowena was born and raised in a tumultuous era marked by economic depression and war. She belonged to a generation of women whose perseverance through difficult times is a testament to their extraordinary character.

On the evening of February 25, 2021, at the age of 93, Rowena passed away peacefully in Renfrew, Ontario with her loving family at her side. Beloved wife of Robert Bouchard for 63 years, she is also survived by her daughter Patricia (Tom Loeschnik); her son Richard; grandchildren Rob, Matt, Spencer and Yarrow; and brother Trevor Wilson (Jean Doddard) of Ayre’s Cliff, Quebec. Pre-deceased by her dear son Robert (Patricia) as well as her six brothers and sisters, Eric Wilson (Mescal); Harold Wilson (Della); Daryl Wilson (Theresa); Hugh Wilson (Doreen); Edythe Hodge (Raymond); and Evelyn Lowry (Chilston). Rowena will be remembered by her many nieces and nephews including Myrna Amplemann (Laurent) of Val Cartier, Quebec and Sheila Tuck (Bob) of Welland, Ontario and dear friends Jack and Ruth Grant of Renfrew, and their daughter, Jane.

Among her many talents and interests, Rowena enjoyed a good game of bridge, kept her loved ones warm with hand-knitted sweaters, socks, scarves and toques and kept them well fed with her culinary skills, especially homemade pies.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the many wonderful health providers who cared for Rowena with dedication and kindness at her home in Renfrew and at the Bonnechere Manor and the Renfrew Victoria Hospital.

Final care and arrangements have been entrusted to the Zohr Family Funeral Home, Renfrew. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Rowena’s life will be held when restrictions are eased and social gatherings are more widely permitted. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Bonnechere Manor Foundation or the Renfrew Victoria Hospital Foundation in memory of Rowena.
