John "Roy" Thomas passed peacefully into the presence of His Lord on Sunday August 14, 2022 in his 87th year. He endured a 20 year journey through Alzheimer's Disease after a distinguished teaching career that included stops at SS#2 Wilberforce then later in Ottawa at Riverview, Metcalfe, Robert Hopkins, and Carson Grove public schools. In 1991, he retired to the family farm in Golden Lake and turned his focus to a new student, his son Jonathan. His life passions included gardening, softball, and meticulous organization! Roy was faithfully committed to his Christian family at Deacon Gospel Chapel for many years. He was predeceased by his wife Linda in 2012 from cancer. Special thanks to the caring staff at his 4 "homes" over the last decade: Quail Creek in Renfrew, Courtyards on Eagleson, QCH Fairfields ALC, and most recently Forest Hill all in Kanata. Roy is survived by his son Jonathan, daughter-in-law Rachel, and two grandchildren Lydia and Reid. Arrangements entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Eganville. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2022 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 22, 2022 at 10:00am at the Deacon Gospel Chapel.
