Obituary for Wayne John McDaniels

McDANIELS, Wayne John
October 25, 1946 - May 12, 2022

Passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home in the late hours of Thursday, May 12, 2022 in his 76th year. He will be sadly missed by his children Reid of Nelson, B.C., Kelly of Petawawa and his three grandchildren, Skye, Owen and Taya. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Betty (Yantha). He will be remembered by his sister-in-law Wanda Dunn (Billy) and brother-in-law Eldon Yantha (Geraldine). He will be missed by his nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wayne is predeceased by his parents, Jim McDaniels and Jean (Laroche) formerly of Pembroke, sisters-in-law Margaret Hagarty (Howard), Catherine Varvaresos (Jimmy) and his nephew Tommy Varvaresos.

He was a long time employee of Atomic Energy in Chalk River and an avid Toronto Maple Leafs Fan. He loved living in Round Lake and enjoyed his days out in the pontoon under the sun. His ground and property showed a true pride of ownership and dedication. He was a man of simple pleasures and enjoyed a "happy hour" on a hot day with neighbours and summer Round Lake residence. He would always be the first to turn on the barbecue cook some food up for the family. It was important to him to always put family first, he always helped out in anyway he could.

Professional services have been entrusted to the care of Zohr Family Funeral Home, Killaloe. Respecting Wayne's wishes cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute or the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation in memory of Wayne.
