Obituary for William Patrick Lavigne

It is with great sadness we say goodbye to our amazing, loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who passed away suddenly, but peacefully at Bonnechere Manor in Renfrew on March 5th, 2022.

Beloved husband to Shirley (nee Cluff) and predeceased by Nancy Belle (nee Latendresse). Cherished father to Susan Cameron (Albert), Barbara Lavigne (Merv) and Mary Crouter (Rick). Stepfather to Sharon, Carey and Wayne Richard. Loving grandfather to Andrew (Tayla), Curtis, Jennifer (Robbie), Amy (Jordan), Joshua (Jasmine), Chantelle (Chris) and Melissa (Michael). Great-grandfather to Bryson, Cailum, Nyah, Raina, Arlin, Brody, Caidan, Zack, Zoe, Eli, Holden, Crew and many extended family, brothers in-law, sisters in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

William Patrick Lavigne in this 89th year, born March 17th, 1933 in Vinton, Quebec. The son of James and Mary (nee Castonguay) Lavigne and the youngest of 17 predeceased siblings.

Our Dad moved to Renfrew at a very young age and was married to Nancy (nee Latendresse) for 59 wonderful years until her death. William was then blessed to have remarried and spent his last blessed years with Shirley (nee Cluff). Dad worked for the Town of Renfrew for 30+ years, had many awards for his service and took early retirement to enjoy the rest of his life. Our Dad loved to hunt and take us girls fishing. Growing up we spent many years at our hunt camp in Griffith and have many cherished memories to always keep close to our hearts. He was loving, caring, providing and our greatest supporter. No matter what issues came up in life, we could always reach out to him. Dad loved the Lord and his favourite quiet time was reading his bible and sharing the gospel of God’s word to anyone who would listen. We know God has you in his keeping, so Dad, until we meet again... we will cherish all the wonderful memories you gave us.

This is the last passages Dad was reading the day he passed away and had marked in his bible-
Job 7:1. Man’s appointed time
Revelation 21:1. Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and the first earth had disappeared. Now there was no sea.
I heard a loud voice from the throne. It said, “Now God’s home is with people. He will live with them. They will be his people. God himself will be with them and will be their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death, sadness, crying or pain. All the old ways are gone.” The one who was sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this, because these words are true and can be trusted.” AMEN.

We are so grateful for the compassionate care Dad received at Bonnechere Manor from all the staff.

Professional arrangements entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Renfrew. Cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held in the spring at Horton Cemetery. Donations to the Bonnechere Manor Foundation would be appreciated. Tributes, condolences and donations may be made at www.zohrfuneralhome.com.
